Western Wedding Inspiration

One thing that never ceases to delight me is when photographers and stylists can take a theme and run with it in a new direction, much like IYQ Photography and The Wedding Rabbit did here. They designed a styled shoot loosely inspired by western elements, opting for muted color tones and relying on the beauty of nature to help tell the story. This western wedding inspiration is just perfect for an al fresco soiree.

From the photographer, Kimie of IYQ Photography: We were inspired to created this collection of photos with an earthy, organic spin on a southwest themed wedding. Inspired from finding charming pieces in local antique shops, this idea came fruition as a collaboration from all of the vendors involved. Kelly’s love for working with eclectic and collected things, combined with natural elements and textures- bare bone, galvanized metal, knotted wood, etc translated into this bohemian-chic wedding inspiration. We included many handcrafted items, such as the handmade pottery table settings customized by our bride model Sonya and refurbished window pane and ladder from Paisley and Jade.

We wanted to create light filled airy images that created a celebration of charm and tranquility with touches of southwestern and Mexican culture. Shana, from Sassy Snapdragon Florals brought our floral vision to life, with her gorgeous rustic arrangements. She seamlessly incorporated a gorgeous mix of textures to create arrangements that translated in photos as natural and charming while keeping with the color palates for the shoot of white, ivories, earth tones and blush pastels. In addition to the brides gorgeous bouquet, she also customized the grooms boutonniere, table settings along with a lei for the horse and cake topper.

Perkins, from Paisley and Jade (eclectic party rentals), provided us with the beautiful mint chairs, chalk board window frame chalk board, the ladders, and more. The tablescape combined several re-purposed items — a slice of a tree stump, old cow skull, a pair of antlers with the delicate textures of vintage laces and linens all topped off by gold flatware. Our bride wore a vintage lace slip over a nude body slip while our groom wore khakis, a matching vest and a pair of vintage unlaced loafers. Ashlyn, our wonderfully talented Makeup Artist, provided our models with the perfect look of a light earthy eye with flirty cheeks and lips.
