Intimate Handmade North Carolina Wedding

Even the worst of weather couldn’t keep this couple from having a beautiful big day. A little bit eclectic, a little bit vintage and a whole lot of lovely. This intimate North Carolina wedding photographed by Red White and Green Photography brings a whole new meaning to laid back glam.

North Carolina Wedding

From the bride, Sarah: We wanted our wedding to feel casual and laid back, but still kind of glam. We didn’t want to neglect our Southern roots, so upscale barbecue was catered in and people loved it. David’s sister made the best banana pudding I have ever tasted.

There were all kinds of things that went “wrong,” but it seemed to make it even more beautiful than planned. Our wedding was outdoors and it rained AND snowed that day, so we moved the ceremony into the reception tent. It was fun and cozy. Our venue supplied the old doors that served as our ceremony backdrop (last minute addition) and the old church pews for the family to sit on during the ceremony.

As far as decor, the venue was so organic and classic, I could have done nothing and it still would have been beautiful. I decided to just pick what I like. David and I are both eclectic, so trying to stick to one style just wasn’t going to happen. I just love beautiful, vintage, colorful, happy things. I also love black and white mixed with jewel tones. A friend of mine and I made the flags for the tables and the “sweet love” banner for the dessert table.

I spent a ton of time in thrift stores looking for old mugs (which served as favors and seating assignments), and old, colorful containers for the flowers. I have a friend who is also a hoarder of pretty things, so we put our treasures together and the tables ended up being perfect. The mugs were fun because it ended up being so cold and we had coffee and hot chocolate for our guests. A triple blessing, those mugs.

The flowers were from a local florist that I discovered at a farmer’s market. They put our bouquets together for us, but the rest of the flowers came in big buckets and my friends arranged the flowers. I honestly could not have pictured them more beautiful than they were.

It all feels like such a whirlwind, but one thing I know for sure – we could not have done it without our dedicated, talented, beautiful friends. I have never felt so loved and served in my entire life! We got engaged in November and our wedding was in March, so we had less than four months to plan. David is a videographer and a photographer, and I do photography part time, so having friends in the wedding business was so, so helpful.

  • This was the most beautiful wedding that I have ever been to in my life. All of the delicate and intimate details made this Handmade NC-Chic wedding OVER the top. Truly, I have never seen love expressed in such a simple but yet amazing and creative way. The mugs…the stew…the prayers…everything was a sweet gesture of their love and I was deeply touched and filled with hope in the presence of God’s love for them and between them!

  • Gorgeous, eclectic styling that brings together lots of different elements to create an unique and personal wedding look! Love the vintage look of the bride’s gown – you just can’t go wrong with lace!

  • gorgeously eclectic!!!! made my heart happy to see such a cool celebration + amazing photos!

  • Absolutely beautiful. You can just see the love they have for each other – loved it – just watched video clip – made me cry!! Planning my own wedding at the mo and really want same kind of feel. Mugs great idea and sparklers great way to end the day. I wish Sarah and David many years of love, health and happiness together xxx

  • This is awesome, I would pick a country or beach wedding any day over heavily traditional. I just did one last week that was set 1/2 mile in the woods of Bladen county and the “Hunting lodge” provided an awesome backdrop as the bride rode in on a horse and buggy. Again, I love your pictures.
