Peter Pan Inspired Wedding
Oh how adorable is this wedding! When Shelly Anderson Photography graciously sent it over to us, we couldn’t have fallen in love with it more than we already did. It captured us from the moment we found out it was Peter Pan inspired, and our appreciation for it certainly grew as we looked the pictures and saw the day was executed with such loveliness, sophistication, and elegance. Lindsey and Mark stuck to a muted color palette with a deep shade of hunter green at the center. Surrounding the color were whimsical details that could be pointed out by anyone that’s familiar with the story, like the golden crocodiles or our personal favorite addition, the flower girl adorably dressed as Tinkerbell. Wildflower San Clemente did a superb job with the floral arrangements and stuck to a classic white and green setup. We would have loved to be a fly on the wall at this wedding!
From the bride, Lindsey: Mark and I are believers in ‘never growing up’ and always keeping the adventurous spirit of love alive. It seemed so natural to have the whimsical nature of Neverland be part of our big day. The idea for a Peter Pan wedding came to us just one night. “To live will be an awfully big adventure.” rings true for us. Today and every day of our marriage.
How we met: In the comfort of our pajamas! Just kidding. Sort of. We met online three years ago. Never being one to make things ordinary, I gave Mark a series of little puzzles to help figure out my last name. Once he found me on social media, he responded in kind by giving me a puzzle to figure out his phone number. I gave him a call on New Years Eve. To this day, he still talks about the thrill he got answering the phone that night. We arranged our first date and ended up talking and laughing for hours together. It was like meeting up with a best friend we hadn’t seen in years. We both knew we were on to something. The rest as they say is history.
For our style, we wanted to have whimsical twinkling lights, romantic florals and a Wendy Darling inspired gown, and a dash of playfulness with Peter Pan inspired decor and details. In terms of planning, our wedding was all about creating our vision, but like most couples, we had a budget to think about! We achieved our dream wedding by researching wedding websites, compromising together, and meeting with vendors until we found what worked for us! For example, we knew we wanted to have a party with all our friends and family at a great venue. To achieve that, we looked into getting married in the off season and on a weekday rather than weekend (who said Friday night weddings were dull?!).
We wanted beautiful flower decor to be in all parts of our wedding, so we focused on multitasking arrangements that lasted us through our rehearsal dinner, reception, and all the way to the morning after brunch. Finally, when friends and family offered to help us, we accepted wholeheartedly! So many of our details and special moments came from family members who helped us out along the way.
