Modern Laguna Beach Wedding
Words positively, absolutely cannot express how excited I am to share Emily and Josh’s wedding sent over by Candice of Hello Studios. The pair of newlyweds set out to make sure nothing about their big day was “traditional,” and they ended up with one of our favorite weddings of the year as a result. Check out their gorgeous barefoot beach ceremony, the precious ringbearer, and of course, Emily’s incredible style!
From the bride, Emily: We wanted our wedding to be different — we envisioned our wedding to look and feel vintage-y, rustic & whimsical. We wanted to make sure nothing was traditional.
Our color scheme included all neutral colors – tans, golds, browns, beige, rose pink. A lot of our decor was DIY, including — place cards (succulent garden with name cards attached to skewer sticks); Chalk board signs (sign for the beach for guests to take off their shoes & for the dessert table, each dessert had its own mini chalkboard sign to label each dessert – mini cupcakes, macrons, Norwegian cake “Kransekake” which was made at a Norwegian church in San Pedro & our wedding cake); Wood signs (arrows pointing to “reception,” “ceremony,” & “J&E Wedding”); Cake stands for dessert table (glued different colored plates to wine glasses to make each the stand); Purchased over 60 vintage amber glass bottles from the flea market for our center pieces on each guest table filled with flowers (all different sizes); Burlap table runners with painted table numbers using stencils; Had our guest book made by a woman from etsy; Came up with the idea for all of the bridesmaids to each have a completely different dress; I had my necklace made by an amazing local designer.
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Do as many DIY projects as possible- not only is it fun and it allows you to make your wedding truly your own but it also saves a lot of money. Get a wedding planner! Our wedding planner was absolutely amazing and our weddig wouldn’t haven’t been as perfect as it was if it weren’t for her. The wedding planner deals with the details that I don’t think the bride or groom should have to deal with. Also, try and be as less stressed as possible and yes I know that things can definitely get overwhelming & stressful at times, but try not to let every little thing get you stressed. Try & look at each step of the planning process as an adventure and just have fun with it! Everything will work out no matter what!

love love love this wedding! LOVE the brides dress and necklace, the bridesmaid dresses and that little pageboy is adorable!!
Question for the bride: I too have 7-8 bridesmaids and our theme is a vintage, Parisian, garden theme wedding in New Orleans. I do not want to do a traditional bridesmaid dress in that everyone looks the same. My dress is a lace claire pettibone dress and I want all my maids to wear a similar theme (but they live on every coast). How did you coordinate your theme? They look wonderful together, and I love the sequin detail. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
So beautiful! Can someone please tell me where the bridesmaids’/bride’s robes are from? Thank you and Congrats!
I would also love to know where the bridesmaids robes are from!! Thanks!
