Marvimon House Wedding
It’s no surprise, we’re huge fans of Los Angeles’ Marvimon House. Add two beautiful brides, a little touch of mid-century modern flair, and images from The Gemmers, and you’ve got this beauty of a gem wedding! Whatever you do, don’t miss the wedding film from What We Do Films. So. Sweet.
From bride Leighann: Our vision must have changed a dozen times over the 17 months we were engaged. We ultimately decided on subtle mid-century with natural elements. We wanted something that was simple yet aesthetically pleasing. Neither one of us enjoys being the center of attention so we wanted to throw a big party celebrating our love with the people we love. We are incredibly lucky to have such amazing people in our lives and the day wouldn’t have been possible without all of the love and support we have received from them over the years.
Our wedding was actually dubbed the “Lipster” (lesbian hipster) wedding a couple months prior. The day of, all of our friends were posting photos to instagram and trying to get the hashtag “Lipster” trending. I applaud their effort but it didn’t have the world dominating effect they were going for. Pretty much the entire wedding was handmade. Caitlyn and I spent months crafting… the weekends, after work, any time we had a free moment. I wanted everything to be one-of-a-kind and representative of our personalities and style.
We ultimately decided that a bottle of specially brewed beer would make the perfect thank you gift. If there is one thing we are known for, it’s our love of beer. Coincidentally, Caitlyn’s sisters’ boyfriend recently began home brewing so we asked him to brew 150 bottles for us. For the four months leading up to the wedding, we had all of our friends saving any brown bottles that we could recycle and use for the brew. Again, we used a combo of printing and hand stamping for the labels.
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? If you’re planning on going the DIY route, don’t do it purely for monetary reasons. Chances are you’ll end up spending more than you realize trying to do it yourself. Also, just prepare yourself for something to go wrong, and if it does, know that you will most likely be the ONLY person who is aware of it.
