DIY Gold Placemat
We’re all kinds of excited to share this feature with you, because it combines two of our favorite things: gold and easy-as-pie DIY. Typologie and CO and Your Cloud Parade teamed up to bring us this beautiful chevron pattern gold place mat, a simple project that’s guaranteed to add an extra wow factor for your guests.
From Candice of Your Cloud Parade: The first hip online wedding marketplace Your Cloud Parade, teamed up with one of their talented shop owners Typologie and CO to bring you this super cute Gold Placemat DIY. It’s extremely fun to do for any wedding day decor. And with gold being the new “pink” of weddings, you can’t go wrong with adding a touch of gold to your wedding color palette.
For this project, you will need:
-cotton place mat
-metallic spray paint (or any color of your choice)
-painter’s tape
Instructions:
1. Use your painter’s tape to mark out the pattern you’d like to design. Be sure to place a piece of tape in the middle of the place mat to ensure a clean break if you only want to paint half the place mat (as shown here).
2. Begin spraying wherever you’d like color.
3. Allow paint to dry, then remove painter’s tape. That’s it!
We love the endless possibilities for colors and patterns with this tutorial. What a perfect way to add a hint of graphic fun to your reception decor!
Great idea. I’m a big fan of putting your own stamp on things.
It’s a glass plate! It’s a beautiful and simple idea you’ve got, but until I read it I actually thought that you had a painted plate to finish off the design on the painted placemat. 😀 Which seemed pretty genius actually! Now I have to go look up foodsafe paints for plates.
What a cute project! I love it so much that I decided to feature it in our roundup of scrap chevron crafts!
Have a great day!
Where is a good placE to purchase white cotton placemats for a reasonable price. All I’ve found are white placemats for a lot and only 4 in a pack
I am impressed at how good the metallic paint looks on fabric! I wouldn’t expect a metallic paint to create such a nice finish. My experience with metallic spray paints have all been a bit of a disaster.
