DIY Glitter Monogram Cake Toppers
I seriously don’t know how the judges will be able pick just three projects. Filling the seats for the panel of judges are no other than: Olivia of A Field Journal , Ez of Creature Comforts, Chelsea of Frolic, Jordan of Oh Happy Day and Katelin of Project Wedding.
Evie made this fabulous glitter monogram cake topper. It’s so timely with metallics being the IT colors of the moment.
What you’ll need:
– Hot glue gun
– spray adhesive
– small scissors
– glitter
– three pieces of cut wire in identical lengths
– (it needs to be thick enough gauge to stand up straight when placed in your cake)
– this template for your monogram letters printed on heavy card stock
Step 1: Print out your initials using this template
Step 2: Cut out the letters
Step 3: Spray your adhesive onto the letter
Step 4: Quickly sprinkle your glitter over the letter before the glue dries. Tap off any excess.
Step 5: Hot glue your wire to the back of your letter
When you are done, they are ready to stick into your cake. The beauty of the curly style font is that as you are cutting, it naturally creates dimension because of the tight curves.
What a great idea for weddings or any type of celebration. They would be great on greeting cards or to embellish a gift. Your directions are easy to follow which is a plus. Thanks for sharing this idea!
Love this idea! There’s a template for the letters referenced a couple times, but I can’t find it…am I missing an obvious link?
Chloe, the template is hyperlinked in the post, but it’s hard to see. 🙂

Do you have a template with numbers in it as well.
I wanted to make something like this for the top of my grandma and grandpas 50th anniversary cake my sister is making.
what cake is this?
Very funky idea, and great tutorial. Many thanks for sharing!
These are wonderful! I am working on some pie toppers, it’s always nice to see what you have to show!
Great tutorial!!
My only suggestion is to spray it with something to seal it so glitter doesn’t fall off/flake off on to the cake.
Wow, thanks for the template! I think this will work great for any celebration, and I can’t wait to try it in gold 🙂
Thank you so much for the fab tips. Now inspired to push on with bolder efforts!
I’m going to use these techniques for an arrangement I’ll be doing soon. many thanks for sharing your knowledge.
This is so beautiful! FYI — on your DIY Ideas landing page this post is actually linked to your DIY chandelier. I found the correct url for this post by Googling the first sentence from the landing page.
Love this ! I’ll add it to cake topper ideas for Brides who use my DIY Wedding cake instructions. (see website) And from a cake baker’s perspective, I agree with the comment on spraying it with something to keep the glitter from getting onto the cake.
Go DIY Brides !! You rock !
This is such an awesome idea! Thanks for sharing! It’s so timely as I’m making a cake for my friends this week.
This is so simple and adorable. Great DIY – thanks!
Love the simplicity of the design. The cake looks so yummy.. 🙂
These are awesome! I am curious… do you make 2 cut outs of the same letter and glue the letters together so the back is glittered too? Or just let the back stay plain?
Thanks for the great ideas!
I can’t open the template and I am SO DESPERATE.
