Winter Wedding Inspiration with Greenery Backdrop
If it was the diamond-patterned greenery backdrop that first caught our eye in this shoot from Yasmin Sarai and Blushing Joy Events, it was the darling square donuts on a peg board display that sealed the deal. Modern, feminine, with just a hint of whimsy — everything Ruffled loves, tied up in a pretty styled inspiration shoot bow.
Jessica of Blushing Joy Events and photographer Yasmin Sarai teamed up and together envisioned a modern, whimsical wedding inspiration shoot with a little edge! With cold weather around the corner, we wanted to offer our take on mixing various styles at an indoor wedding held in wintertime. We drew inspiration from the contrasting elements of the icy cold and the cozy warmth we experience during the winter season to form various aspects of this wedding day. We aimed for a look with depth, starting with the color palette of black & white, with edgy metallics against the texture of natural greenery on the backdrop of Seventh Heaven’s white warehouse walls. Candlelight from black tapers, along with sheepskins and the velvety black Pierre couch created romantic warmth, while an array of hollow mixed metallic terrariums provided by Julia’s Cake Stand Rentals brought bold lines and angles.
The bride’s silk crepe Chantel Lauren Designs wedding dress also fell in theme with contrasting elements, as the conservative bateau neckline and delicate lace cap sleeve paired with a daring cowl back. Her look was accented with bold lashes and soft curls by makeup artist Allie Yamaguchi and an edgy rose gold diamond studded spike bangle with gold diamond disc earrings and a dainty 5 stone diamond ring from Atheria Jewelry. The chic simplicity of the dress was elevated by florist Christine Cater who created a dramatic and stunning floral bouquet and the most unique floral crown from unique silvery lunaria pods, giving our bride the cool vibe of a royal ice queen, especially as she lounged in the Talbot wingback chair.
The wall of greenery created by Christine and Jenna is one of our favorite elements of this shoot as well as the lovely and whimsical lettering on the signage and invitations by calligrapher Joy + Confetti. For the tablescape, we worked with Pleasanton Rentals and chose gray stone plates, gold flatware, and geometric place card holders by esselle SF to further elevate the modern look, and arranged greenery alongside gold rimmed glassware and black tapers in brass candleholders, with two cozy mud cloth textile-covered chairs to seat the newlyweds.
We both love when a wedding has a cute personal touch, so we envisioned this couple as having a mutual love of coffee and donuts. As a modern couple, they’re not afraid to do something different, and the peg wall of donuts is such a fun way to serve up the sweets! To cap off the wedding day, guests will enjoy coffee from the couple’s favorite local coffee shop and square donuts via the donut wall. Nothing says warm and cozy like those two treats, and as the marquee light box reminds us, like coffee and donuts, our sweet couple just goes together! In addition to a classic two-tier white frosted cake provided by Cakes By Jina, which is topped by one of the amazingly delicious donuts from Donut Savant, guests are treated to fun sprinkle donut-inspired sugar cookies!
