Whimsical Redwoods Wedding with Vintage Flair
We know whites and neutrals aren’t going anywhere, but when we see a wedding like this one, we are reminded of why we love color OH SO much. This whimsical Redwoods wedding with vintage flair had all the bright pops of color and took place among tall forest trees. With the ceremony set at a classic Airstream park and an adorable furry guest in attendance, it doesn’t get more playful than this! We know this one will make you smile, so keep on reading.
Allison Lindsey Photography not only nailed the photos but also helped the couple find the ideal spot to have their ceremony. The scenic nature of the tall Redwoods truly set the stage for this picture-perfect wedding day.
Brooke from Burlap & Bordeaux did all the event and floral designs for this whimsical wedding day. She quite literally turned wedding ceremony into a fairytale forest!
From the Bride: Jeff and I met through his sister Jessie, who I went to high school with (side note, Jeff and I also went to HS together, we were 2 grades apart, but we didn’t know each other, and don’t recall ever crossing paths). Jessie and I started working together in 2014 and I was single at the time. A mutual friend/also a co-worker of ours (Cassandra) kept trying to play matchmaker and had asked Jessie if she knew anyone who was single and Jessie indicated her brother was single and he is a really good guy. Nothing happened after that, aside from Jessie telling Jeff about me. A little less than a year later, Jessie brought up her brother again and I then asked her to tell me more about him and show me a picture. On Aug 31, 2015, Jeff reached out to me via Facebook messenger and we started chatting. We then met face to face on Sep 03, 2015 and the rest was history.
Wedding planning was great. We hit a few bumps in the road at the beginning, mostly with nailing down where we wanted to get married and how the logistics would work out. Initially, we were supposed to get married at Horseshoe Bend in Page, AZ, but that became too complicated so we started to look at other options, and quickly came across Guerneville, CA (and Autocamp, which is where we stayed) and decided to get married in the Redwoods.
The best part was the day Allison Smoley from Allie Lindsey Photography put me in contact with Brooke, event designer at Burlap & Bordeaux, and Jeff and I decided to hire her. After Brooke and I spoke for the very first time, I knew she was the one. I was able to give her an idea of the style we were looking for, and then we let her run with all the details. I told her from the get-go that I didn’t want to dictate a lot of the details, I wanted her to use her experience and eye to bring it all together. Having been a wedding photographer, I knew it was important to allow my vendors to use their creativity, after-all that’s why I chose them.
We had never been to Guerneville, CA so it was a challenge figuring out the details of how the ceremony logistics were going to work, and especially the exact location of the ceremony. All we knew was that we wanted to get married in the redwoods, and we had no idea how those logistics would work out. Once Jeff and I arrived in Guerneville, CA 2 days prior to the wedding, and saw that most of the redwoods are on private property, things became even more complex. With the help of our Photographer, Allison Smoley, and our officiant Jared Smoley (Allison’s husband), we were able to find a public area with redwoods to have our wedding, all which occurred 24-hours prior to the wedding.
Brooke, from Burlap & Bordeaux, was referred to us by Allison Smoley with Allie Lindsey Photography. She came with high recommendations from Allie. We hired her because we loved her work and she was able to customize a package that worked for our needs and our budget. Since we were doing a destination wedding, we needed someone who could coordinate all the logistics from styling the wedding to hiring other highly recommended vendors, which included rentals, cake, desserts for our dessert table, etc. On a side note, Brooke wasn’t just our event planner, she also did our floral arrangements and she also did my makeup. She did A LOT for us, and we are forever grateful! We couldn’t have pulled off such an amazingly memorable wedding without her and her team and Allie! We definitely had the A+ team!
We are forever grateful for our wedding team and everyone who was able to be by our side. Our wedding turned out so magical!!
