Whimsical Marvimon House Wedding
We’re kicking this weekend off with the perfect injection of color, thanks to the fantastic Sloan Photographers and the glorious Marvimon House. A bit of glitter, a touch of fuchsia and orange, and one of the sweetest first looks you’ll see (we guarantee it), you’ll love this wedding as much as we do!
From the bride, Missy: I wanted our wedding to be colorful and fun. I wanted to use Bauer Pottery and the bright flowers that were in season. We wanted everyone to have a fun relaxed time. We had great food from Heirloom, and wine from SilverLake Wine.
I wanted it to be festive, fun colorful and personal. I did not want it to be too quirky, but wanted it to express our tastes and humor. We had our friend make a cut where you could put your face through it and get your picture taken. I wanted to use local vendors for everything. I had a tremendous help from friends. I was into using orange and bright fuchsia, and the colors of the Bauer pottery, which are bright and very California.
We have lived in LA a long time, and wanted an downtown wedding, but with the lovely outdoor Spring element that is also part of LA. Marvimon had both of those. They have the loveliest outdoor succulent garden and ceremony area. The reception was inside, so no one had to get in the car and drive to another site. They were super friendly and helpful the day of. We had a day-of coordinator, who we could not have done it without. He came from Marvimon, so was familiar with everything and we had several meetings before hand.
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? There are a lot of things to juggle. If you need help, and can afford it, get a coordinator, at least day-of one. It is a lot, and you don’t want to worry on the wedding day if something goes wrong, and something will…. it always does.

Wedding Music:
My husband is a composer, so he wrote music for a cello duet that we walked in the processional and recessional. Our first dance was to a Bright Eyes song.
