Virginia Boathouse Wedding
If you’re anything like me, you’re always up for a little wedding inspiration with a vintage twist. That’s exactly what we got in the form of today’s wedding from Dixie Pixel Photography and Vogue Flowers, who both worked wonders on Joanna and Otto’s wedding day at a Virginia boathouse (such a great idea for a wedding venue!). Let’s dive right into the goodness, yes?
From the bride, Joanna: In the planning process, we envisioned a 1930s Hampton(ish) garden party. Flowers and gold were two of the bigger elements. The bigger items that were DIY were the invitations (my personal fave), faux mercury glass for the votives and vases, the table numbers which were actually drink names of the era, the Mr. & Mrs. signs on the chairs at the sweetheart table and the guest book which were Replica vintage postcards that we’ll keep in a box to read til our first anniversary.
Flower recipe: Bride’s bouquet: pink peonies, green hypericum, trick, green amaranthus, hot pink/purple dendrobiums, hot pink mini calla lilies. Reception arrangements: roses, white hydrangeas top sprayed hot pink, dark pink stock, hot pink carnations, curly willow tips sprayed gold, sago, salal.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Elope if you want to keep your sanity! Hahaha… JK. Don’t underestimate the undertaking a wedding is. Try to stay as organized as possible to help minimize your stress level. I created an email account that my fiancé and I could go to access, so everything was in one place. Also, there are apps you can use to keep track of vendors, guests, budget etc. if you’d rather not have a paper binder. I personally like “IDoo” app the best (for iPhone).
