The story of us…

The story of us…

Hi Everyone!

Writing a little background information about myself and our upcoming wedding has been harder to do than expected. But, here’s what I have so far…

Jay and I met and started dating in High School. Our first kiss was on New Year’s Eve, right when the ball dropped. He asked me first. It was adorable. It went a little something like “…if you don’t have anyone else to kiss at midnight, could I kiss you?”

Prom 2001 - Weren't we cute?

Eight years later – after prom, 2 years of living away at college, him moving to the bay area, finishing college, 3 apartments and 1 cat -  Jay took me to Point Reyes and asked “…if you don’t have anyone else to marry…”

So here we are. I work at Sonoma State University in the Performing Arts Department, running the box office and dabbling in marketing. I also teach flute and sometimes middle school band on the side.  Jay works at Best Buy part time (for the discount), but mostly at a school for kids with special needs.

On to the wedding…

Remember this guy?

Our wedding style has gone through many transformations in the last 10 months. Its been country club chic, than garden chic, than some sort of kitchen/herb chic. Really the only thing that has stayed the same is the “chic.”  But, as we get deeper and deeper, its really condensed down to what Jay calls “Antique Store (chic)”

Jay and I are getting married at the Doubletree Hotel in Rohnert Park. It has this fantastic upper lobby with a bar and grand piano where we will be hosting our cocktail hour. One of my friends from the music department will be coming in and playing 40’s and 50’s jazz standards – so excited! In the end, we hope that the wedding has a fun, early 50’s vibe to it, incorporating all of our antique store finds and new-found craftiness. But really the most important thing for us is throwing a tremendous party for all of our friends and family.

That’s all for now!  There’s still 4.5 months to go until the wedding, so there will be lots of little tidbits along the way…

xoxo- jenny
