Southern Charm Wedding Ideas

I’m a sucker for all things southern-inspired, and this shoot from Catherine Guidry and Alyssa Arlene Events hits the nail on the head. Put together in sweet Louisiana, this session mixes lush floral arrangements from Root Floral Design with a drool-worthy dessert bar from Indulge for a special treat to brighten our day.

From the photographer, Catherine: The purpose for this shoot was to bring southern weddings vendors together in hopes of inspiring brides to use cultural and local elements that are native to their area. The wedding was styled in a way that took what is unique to this region and made it fitting for the event.

This secret southern inspired shoot is set in the overgrown gardens of Maison Madeleine on the banks of Lake Martin. The gardens set the stage for this intimate, semi-formal, fall event. The colors for the event are eggplant, ivory, garnet, and persimmon: a colorful and rich palette for Fall.

The groom wore a seersucker suit with patterned bow-tie and the bride wore a simple, short dress… perfect for the warm Louisiana atmosphere. Her details included a fabulous parasol and wide-brimmed hat as well as vintage reconstructed jewelry. Types of flowers featured include garden roses, dahlias, peonies, ranunculus, and hanging amaranthus. The flowers are also accented with gold ribbon and displayed in a variety of containers including cast-iron pots, skillets, and silver cast alligator heads.
