Smoke and Mirrors Wedding Inspiration
The idea of a wedding styled after “smoke and mirrors” was immediately intriguing to me, I have to admit. Mixing together some mysterious and dark inspiration with rich jewel tones, the latest Big Fake Wedding event in New York City is a production that inspires us in new ways each time we look at it. Our particular favorite elements would have to be the incredible fashion and reception details, like the agate table numbers and hand-painted centerpieces!

Mysterious and a bit dark, this inspiration board encouraged vendors to take direction from this year’s edgy bridal fashion and turn it into something ideal and bridal. The bride had two looks – her backless ceremony gown was classic, yet edgy and her very glam reception gown was perfect for the party! Two paper elements really stood out – the programs (painted, stained glass-looking) and the hand-stamped save the dates. Rich, jewel-toned bouquets were accented with gilded leaves to give them the perfect pinch of glamour. Tablescapes were accented with stained glass, agate and hand-painted elements, and enhanced by bits of metallic. We usually let the bride and her maids shine, but these fellows look incredibly dapper in their custom black and navy suits – check out the custom cuffs on the groom (“Just Married”)!
