San Diego Backyard Wedding
We couldn’t possibly be more excited to share today’s wedding from photographer Rachel Thurston and with florals by Twigg Botanicals, featuring a pair of newlyweds that is nothing short of completely gorgeous. You may recognize the reappearance of the envelope note card board from last year’s Las Vegas wedding, which is just as much of a hit this time around. There are gobs of ideas to adore in this wedding, which are as sweet as the bride and groom themselves.
From the bride, Becca: I imagined a vintage feel. I love lace, and antique looking bottles. I also wanted a sorta comfortable feeling in my backyard with people I’m close to. I wanted a sort of magical feeling with the lights and mason jars lit which I got!! I love flowers too so I wanted a soft vintage look with those to bring everything together. I love Anthropologie too so a lot of their furniture inspired me and I created some of my own pieces in the backyard.
I had a color scheme that helped me plan everything. Everything was centered around that. It was a seafoam green, some natural creams and taupes, shades of pink (terracotta, peach, rose, mauve).. very muted versions of all these colors. My flowers were a great reference to my color scheme. I wanted a vintage, antique feel. We purchased all of our decorations. We went to antique shops or just looked for antique looking things wherever we went. We also borrowed furniture, books, and other things from my grandparents home. I made my own paper bags for the candy. I had someone create silhouettes for us and then I ordered bags from Etsy and made all of them with ribbon and a scallop hole puncher. We made the chalkboards we used using old frames and chalkboard paint. I loved the overall soft feel that my wedding had with the colors we used.
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Take a breath. Everything will get done. I planned my wedding in 3 months and everything got done and was perfect. It is possible. Just make sure you know what kind of wedding you’re wanting… big/small, etc. Also, decide what things are most important to you and what you’d like to spend more money on. Flowers were really important to me so I spent more on them. Also sometimes you have to call people or places a few times to get what you need done!

Wow, this is not what I expected. I love the colors and the photos. This must have been a very magical comfurtable day. I enjoy unique unexpected decorations over glamour and shimmer.
Thank you for the feature!! It looks gorgeous!
This is such a gorgeous wedding! I love the simplicity of the wedding cake paired with gorgeous flowers with a pop of colour. The silhouette favour bags and guest book are fantastic! Love it!
Beautiful wedding!! This is similar to the look and color scheme that my fiancĂ© and I are going for. We also love the groom’s suit! Is there anyway we can get additional details regarding where the suit was purchased? Thanks!
Her dress is so original and absolutely stunning!
My daughter is in love with this dress…is there any way to get more information on who designed it? I have tried looking up Bespoke by Thanh Dao and have had no luck. Thanks!
Hi Caroline,
This dress was custom made for the bride, but a similar style is “Blair” by Anne Barge. Hope this helps!
Beautiful wedding. Where are the flower girl dresses from?
Where did she get her dress? And how could I find it? I would love that exact dress!
