Retro Santa Barbara Elopement
If I had to plan the perfect elopement, it would look pretty much exactly like Katlan and Taha’s. Helping each other get ready, picking up the marriage license, exchanging vows outdoors, and grabbing a drink together… perfection head to toe. Luckily, Angie and Matt of Sloan Photographers were there to capture everything for posterity!
From the bride, Katlan: We are both very low-key and wanted our day to just be the two of us. We were combining our wedding and honeymoon together and decided to elope (even though everyone knew about it!). My parents have been married for 38 years and they went to California and “eloped” as well, so they fully supported our idea! Plus we both have big families and knew how stressful big weddings could be, and we really just wanted to enjoy the day. We chose Santa Barbara because the courthouse is so beautiful and we felt that would make our ceremony even more special. I used Taha’s tie as an inspiration for my flowers and accessories – I loved the bright colors. Some adjectives I would use would be fun, colorful, vintage-inspired, happy.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? I know eloping isn’t everyone’s thing, but we had the best time. It was so nice being able to spend time together and relax and not be stressed out about so many details. I would definitely recommend it to anyone!
