Modern Pretoria Wedding
It’s no secret — one of my favorite flowers has always been (and will always be) the protea. They always seem to add a perfect pop of mystery and modern flair to any floral arrangement, don’t you think? With a nearly all-white color scheme and images by picture me&u, this South African wedding charts pretty high on our list of favorites.
From the bride, Angie: I wanted the style to be very vintage and romantic, but with a few modern twists. It was important to us to keep the look and feel simple and understated. I also wanted the style to complement the natural surroundings.
Our colour scheme was predominantly white. The only colour we brought in was from the different Proteas on the tables and my dress which was a light nude/blush. We also asked the closest family and bridal party to wear black to complement our photos. I designed all the stationery, including the labels for the wine bottles and my sister helped me to make the pom poms which hung in the tress during the outdoor ceremony. We didn’t want to detract from the modern elegance of the venue so all decor was simple white or glass.
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Give yourself enough time to plan everything properly, you don’t want to be making decisions at the last moment because you have run out of time. Do your research and shop around when choosing your wedding vendors.
