Of all the flowers in the world, King Protea is perhaps the boldest. And we’re happy to say it plays a central role in Nina and Steve’s South Africa greenhouse wedding we’re sharing in the storied images from Mathias Fast Photography below! This couple’s woodsy ceremony with rustic pews + a lush arbor was just the start to an all-around fairytale wedding day. Once you see the crystal chandeliers and floral clouds from Fleur le Cordeur that seem to go on for miles + miles at the reception, you’ll understand what we mean! Amy York planned + coordinated this luxe greenhouse affair, and we’re so excited for you to see all the lovely details from the pastel velvet + wood lounge areas to the Dutch flower napkins to the croquembouche dessert as you scroll on!
From the Bride, Nina: Steve and I were looking to create a day that was natural, sophisticated, elegant, but relaxed. Die Woud was the perfect venue that ticked these boxes for us as well as it was a setting that we had never experienced so it felt unique and the perfect fit for us!
The inspiration for the flowers, décor and colours were really around keeping everything feeling natural, soft and romantic. In terms of the flowers we wanted them to be local and in season and have a feel of not being perfectly arranged but rather rustic and natural so that it didn’t feel out of place in the forest setting! We both have a love for South African fynbos and the pink King Protea is my favourite flower so this for me was the anchor point for everything!
I know what you’re thinking, and the answer is yes, this lush South Africa greenhouse wedding is sure to be a Hall of Famer. We’re charmed entirely by the couple’s deep affection for one another (and also their passion for lush tropical blooms!). Be sure to glimpse this bewitchingly gorgeous Australia wedding with protea-filled bouquets next!
