Metropolitan Building NYC Wedding
Over the years, there have been a few venues that have taken up residence in our hearts as favorite wedding locations — without question, one of them is New York City’s The Metropolitan Building. Add in images from Redfield Photography, styling by Green Apple Weddings and Events, and floral arrangements from Xylem & Phloem, and you’ve got one heck of a winner in our books — Jess and Carmen’s wedding!
From the bride, Jess: We started designing our wedding with a theme in mind, but as time went on the idea evolved & the color palate expanded. We ended up with something that was so personal & unique to us. We began adding things that are reflections of our interests: books as centerpieces, wine bottles as vases & postcards as the guestbook. Every detail we chose seemed to mesh perfectly with the decor of the Metropolitan Building, which has such a beautiful shabby chic feel. It was also important to add a lot of DIY elements.
With some help from a lovely bridesmaid, I made the paper chains that lined the aisle & other garlands that covered the dance floor. I also hand stamped all the escort cards & hot glued the corks together for the stands. It all came together beautifully with the help of my ridiculously talented florist, day-of-coordinator & Metropolitan staff. When I walked into the room everything was exactly as I had envisioned it. It was overwhelming (& satisfying) to see a years worth of planning come to fruition & for the room to be filled with everyone that we love.
Favorite memories… when Carmen & I had our 1st look before the ceremony, walking up the aisle & seeing everyone that I have ever loved in my whole life smiling back at me and really being able to dance. There was no holding back on the dance floor from me or anyone else, it was amazing.
My advice to brides is definitely get a coordinator for the day of & when the stress of planning becomes slightly overwhelming remember that “it’s just a party” that was our mantra during the last few weeks before the wedding. It helped us to put it in perspective and not to get too wrapped up in the last minute stress.

You’re right – this is a stunning wedding! Love her hair style and gown!
This is stunning! Metropolitan Building is an all time favorite as well.
Jess your dress is absolutely stunning. Looks like you just stepped out of the pages of Downton Abbey.
What an exquisite combination of craft and art. I love the use of ranunculus, orchids and seeded eucalyptus centerpieces!
This will forever be one of our all time favorite weddings ~ thank you so much for sharing!!
I really love this wedding venue. It really takes you back in time to that sort of Great Gatsby era. I would have designed some really elegant wedding invitations with touches of art deco and lace on it for this couple.
The venue, the bride’s dress, the bouquet, everything just takes you back in time. The photographer captured the mood of the day very well.
Very special and detail oriented event. Loved the venue, the decor and the beautiful couple .I loved the bride”s dress ,make up and the hair.
