Organic Grecian Wedding with Lemons Overflowing
When life gives you lemons, plan a wedding around them! There’s so much pep in Nikos and Farah’s organic Grecian wedding with olive branch details so beautiful it hurts, and we are living for the punchy bursts of yellow throughout the day. A couple with a story that takes us halfway around the world (a few times!), they are definitive proof that love will find a way.
These images from Adrian Wood Photography will start your week off with a bang! And perhaps inspire you to drink some fresh lemonade on your lunch hour… because goes better with reading wedding stories than total immersion. At least that’s our philosophy!
The details are artfully crafted by Athens wedding planners, MBW Events, and my, are we inspired by their talent for weaving nature together with tradition.
From the designer, Vasso of MBW Events: Nikos and Farah are the joy of life! Two loveable people, always smiling big. They are generous, kind and madly in love. They were meant to be! He is Greek but spent most of his early years in Washington DC. She is from Qatar but spent many years in Washington DC. And no, they didn’t meet in the States! They met after years in Doha, where Nikos moved in order to follow his career. It’s such a small world after all…
They both love organic details, Greece and olive trees! So it was easy to come up with their wedding theme. Olive branches, organic style and touches with vibrant lemons to add a touch of color and freshness!
They wed at a private House in Island Art & Taste, located at the Athenian Riviera. An amazing spot, overlooking the sea where you forget you are in Athens and you think you have been magically transported to one of the Greek islands!
Olive branches were the key greeneries and foliage, assorted with yellow celosias, succulents, dahlias, white astible, chamomile, brunia and rosemary from Fragopoulos Flowers. Freshly cut lemons were added to the centerpieces and the key décor items.
Their wedding ceremony took place at the same venue, on a different level, in a beautiful garden. The ceremony was performed outdoors and we decided to make a different arch for our couple. All made out of branches, decorated in places with olive branches and some yellow flowers. Big baskets full of olives created the aisle that our bride walked down. White wooden benches were there for our guests, hosting fans and rice for them!
The bride walked the aisle with her father after her two nephews had led her way accompanied with local musicians dressed in traditional Greek attire.
Tables from White Lilac were covered with a pale grey tablecloth. Wooden X-back chairs were used to add that rustic yet elegant tone. Centerpieces were spotted in grey old-fashioned amphorae’s surrounded with vintage smoky grey glasses carrying mini floral bouquets! Grey crystal glasses and beige lace porcelain plates were used for this magical dinner. Chestnut linen napkins shaped in a bow and decorated with mini rosemary & olive bouquets, were added to the scenery.
Dinner was hosted under a wooden pergola covered with hundreds of fairy lights creating an amazing ambiance. And a wooden swing, decorated with olive branches was there, over the pool, waiting for the guests to take a ride over the pool overlooking the blue Aegean Sea. The chairs of the newlyweds were beautifully decorated with olive branches and lemons, and the couple offered to their guests a burlap bag full of Greek products made out of olives.
The bride’s dress was a tailor-made two piece from Mairi Mparola with a lace bohemian style.
The party danced all the way through the couple’s entrance until the first morning hours! The surprise of the night were a Greek duet that performed Greek ethnic music during dinner and a group of 20 dancers, dressed with Greek costumes that danced several traditional breathtaking dances!
