Normandy Summer Wedding
Occasionally I can’t quite put my finger on what it is about a wedding that makes me fall in love with a wedding – it just becomes too difficult to tear myself away from the images. Diane and Julien’s wedding shot by Studio A+Q stole my heart pretty quickly with its civil ceremony in Paris and whimsical circus-themed party in Normandy. How could it be anything less than great?
From the bride, Diane: We wanted to organize a very festive event, not too chic nor conventional, so that people could feel good and be relaxed — that’s why we chose to make an old-fashioned circus theme, with a lot of home-made details, candy and games for our guests. We absolutely wanted to feel and to give emotion and that’s why we did a lot of things by ourselves, wrote or attentively chose each text, music, etc.
We did an old fashioned circus theme, with two colours: pink for sweetness and green because the domain we had chosen in Normandy had blue-green nice timbering. We also added white in order to keep a little bit of poetics. We made a lot of details ourselves: more than hundred meters club flags pink and green, white and pink pompoms, little circus games for the cocktail, colourful windmills, etc. and we also installed a pink and white candy-bar. We chose material with different patterns to keep a little bit of craziness.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Organize an event which well represents yourselves: if you are a little bit crazy, do something crazy, and don’t hesitate to do what you really want (and not what your parents want…). That’s doesn’t matter to do something to please everybody: it is your own wedding. Don’t forget to take pleasure to organize your own wedding: everybody told me it was horrible to organize an event during one entire year but finally we had very great and emotional moments!
