New York Meets Palm Springs Wedding
As if there was ever any doubt, this wedding proves that when Amber Gress and Michelle Edgemont come together, the result is pure magic. As soon as Caitlin and Scott realized their wedding day could (and should!) be whatever they want it to be, they began looking at it as one big party with all their loved ones in tow. Sounds perfect, right? Spoiler alert: it is.
From the bride, Caitlin: It took us a little while to really hone the vision for our wedding. We spent so many hours stalking other weddings and pinning into the wee hours of the night, and there were so many fun styles and ideas we were just so overwhelmed. That’s when we realized that we didn’t need to follow something someone else did; we could do whatever we wanted. Sounds crazy, but took a couple months for us to realize that. And we knew more than anything we wanted the atmosphere to feel like a party. We thought of all the fun things we’d like to see at this fabulous party which were cool metallic elements, fun runners, cascading streamers. We wanted our guests to feel the energy and fun from the second they entered the tent, so we did that through the décor.
Bouquet recipe: Peach garden roses, peach stock, white dahlias, ferns (some spray painted gold!), light pink spray roses, hot pink carnations. They were tied with a combination of ribbons; peach watercolor, white with black polka dots and metallic gold. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were ferns (some tips spray painted gold!) with a peach watercolor ribbon.
Our theme was definitely “Party.” And our color theme/style was lush ferns and greens accented with pink and peach florals. Handwritten type accents throughout and touches of metallic gold and geometric patterns. And last but not least, confetti! The geometric table runners and table numbers were DIY [but not by us:)]. We hired the INCREDIBLY amazing and creative Michelle Edgemont who took this party idea and made it a reality.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Do you! Don’t get overwhelmed with all the photos upon photos of ideas. I’d say, start by thinking what you want it to feel like… romantic, cozy, modern, inventive, quirky…and then dream up what that means. The best part is you can’t go wrong; it’s your vision, so take some risks and have some fun with it.
