Modern Film Noir Inspired Wedding
This San Francisco gem captured by John + Louise Weddings is the perfect example of mixing old and new into a gorgeus modern wedding. Erin and Jon-Paul wanted a modern-day glam wedding, inspired by the 1920s and film noir. Planned by Events by Satra, and with classic florals by Laura Miller Design– which looked impeccable with glitzy bridesmaid dresses.
The day Jon-Paul asked me to marry him and I said yes (of course!), I knew by the look of my antique engagement ring that I wanted an Art Deco theme. The old school glitz and glamour of Jazz Age San Francisco inspired us to get custom artwork done for our save-the-date. We liked the artwork so much, we ended up creating a commemorative guest book print to hang in our house.
When it came time to find a location, we knew that we wanted two things: 1. A night wedding and 2. A view of the city. We’ve both lived in San Francisco for quite awhile and we just knew that we wanted it to be the centerpiece to our decor. When we found the University Club, with it’s stunning view and vintage feel, we knew that we had found it! We ended up finding a lot of similar decor at thrift stores and flea markets which added just that perfect amount of detail. To top it all off we ended up with surprise fireworks from a nearby event. We couldn’t have imagined anything more perfect.
Our main piece of advice for putting together a great theme is to pick one early and stick to it. Once it’s been decided all the other decisions become a bit easier. The other thing that was really helpful, was to space everything out and try to get as much done in advance as possible. We really wanted the week before to spend with family and guests, so we only left a few things until the days before. Not to mention the vendors that we worked with, who were all fabulous, which made a world of difference for our stress levels.

Lovely theme… the dresses are very of the theme they wanted.
Congrats guys xoxo
The small table arrangements are beyond cute. All the details are researched and well thought of and that’s what I appreciate most. Good job! 🙂
Where did you find those beautiful kimono robes!? I can’t find anything of similar quality/print anywhere! What a wonderful look for you and your maids!
@Nicole – hopefully this isn’t too late – I bought them as the bridesmaids gifts from Plum Pretty Sugar: https://store.plumprettysugar.com/
