Modern Botanical Wedding Inspiration
The team behind today’s shoot, which includes Keira Lemonis Photography, Mary Elise Rees Event Design, and Dark + Diamond, was inspired by their invitation suite to create an urban greenhouse styled wedding. Then came lush greenery, shades of pink and purple, and a real-life couple so adorable our hearts just might explode!
From the even designer, Mary Elise Rees Event Design: Initially inspired by the invitation suite, “Artfully Ever After” from Wedding Paper Divas, I wanted to create a story around something lighthearted and modern. We also wanted to create a sort of urban greenhouse vibe that would be fun for couples getting married in the spring or summertime. We found the Lucas Confectionery in downtown Troy, which has a back-enclosed garden patio, complete with a glass rooftop. This venue lets in tons of natural light and has funky greens growing within its brick walls. Dark and Diamond created florals based around our greenhouse theme, as well as the fun color palette on the invitation. There is also an array of unique air plants scattered about the venue.
To mimic the laser cut typography on the invitation, I created a 3-dimensional text back drop with the quote “Our Ever After” and incorporated florals into the décor, from Dark and Diamond. We brought in real butterflies for the shoot, inspired by the ones that you’ll often find in a greenhouse. We love the youthful quality it adds, and how well it fits this couple’s playful personality.
I wanted to continue a floral/greenhouse theme throughout all of the wedding details, including the dress – a Claire La Faye design featuring cut floral applique. On my tablescape, I added a hand cut leather and suede floral table runner. As a special bridal accessory, I hand embroidered a white leather jacket with “just married” for the couple’s grand exit. The Vespa fit perfectly into this shoot, and made for a perfect getaway!
The details are truly inspiring. The brides dress is amazing!
