Mod Wedding Ideas
We’re closing out our week-long celebration of Valentine’s Day with a bodacious styled shoot from a solid dream team of talent: Nicole Rene Events, Izzy Hudgins Photography, and French Knot Studios, who wanted to bring a funky spin to one of our favorite holidays. Bringing a touch of Pop Art was the perfect way to achieve this, and the ladies were inspired by some of the brightest of bright hues in candy-colored nail polish.
From the stylist, Nicole: For this shoot, I knew I wanted to do something modern, funky, bright, and a little hipster. Izzy of Izzy Hudgins Photography and Audrey of French Knot Studios were perfect to collaborate with to capture this vision. Red, pink and white are so predicable for Valentine palettes, instead, our colors were inspired by a collection of candy colored nail polish. Not wanting to leave Valentine’s completely out of the project, we hinted at the “love”ly holiday with motifs of hearts, arrows and XOs throughout the detailing.
I really wanted an installation of some sort for the ceremony backdrop, and we came up with the idea of a curtain made up of hundreds of geometric forms, each with a facet of gold glitter. To show off the bright pop colors and modern elements, we needed a white space with great architecture. Savannah’s modern art museum, The Jepson Center has just what we were looking for; the lobby is clad in white limestone with a glass ceiling soaring thirty feet in the air. The sweeping staircase and lofty sky bridge all added to the visual impact. Ghost chairs are my favorite for their modern lines and lack of visual clutter, they were a must have. Local furniture company, 24 e. had these geometric ghost chairs, which were just perfect, and our scene was set.
Finding a wedding dress with hot pink at the bottom was also at the top of our “must have” list, but proved difficult to source. Instead of borrowing a dress from a boutique, Audrey scored a fabulous thrift store find, and with clever alterations and hot pink petticoats designed the ideal gown for our shoot. To play off our white environment, color was essential in all the details. From the florals to the baked treats to the handmade table linens, color is everywhere. For the invitations and paper goods, we looked to Miss Pickles Press. Her contemporary sensibilities and love of glitter fit right in with our happy, sparkly setting.

What shape have the used for the origami backdrop?
What is the shape made of for the colorful backdrop? Did they make these or purchase them someplace?
The geo curtain was made by French Knot Studios and can be made to order in her etsy store!
Where is the table runner and placemats from? I cannot seem to find them in any of the stores you linked to. Curious if it might be from Spoonflower?
Great wedding pictures.
