This Marrakech Destination Wedding is Giving Us Wanderlust
Do I have a treat for you! Who am I kidding, this is a treat for me too because my love for Morocco is borderline obsessive. So when this stunning Marrakech destination wedding landed in my inbox, I was sold. Planer + designer based in Marrakech Boutique Souk is sharing a little bit behind this stunning wedding as well the couple chimes in on how they had 130 guests come all the way from Australia for their celebration.
From Laura of Boutique Souk: Australian couple Anna and Dom, fell in love with Kasbah Bab Ourika on an adventure trip to Morocco and knew instantly it would be the venue for their wedding. A year later 130 of their family and friends made the round the world trip to Marrakech for their summer celebration.
Anna wanted to stick to local vegetation and florals to compliment the stunning Atlas Mountains setting. Tables were laden with an olive branch, oranges, and ivory local roses. Strings of fairy lights illuminated the outdoor dining area and lanterns led the way to the afterparty ‘club’ for late night dancing under the stars.
What led you to decide on your venue?
Dom and I found Kasbah Bab Ourika on our first big o/s trip together. We were staying at El Fenn in Marrakech and they suggested we travel to the mountains for lunch one day. We fell in love with the spot at soon as we arrived and decided after 3 hrs of bliss that we would get married there in the future. I even kept (and still have) a postcard that I took from the day, with all sorts of details scribbled down from their lovely manager Damien (who helped us organize the wedding!). 1.5 yrs later we got married there with all our friends and family.
What was the inspiration behind your wedding vibe?
We wanted people to experience something completely new and special and be feel immersed in a new environment/culture. We were not focussed on excess as the surrounding of the Atlas Mountains provided so much beauty.
Advice for other couples planning a wedding?
Do exactly what you want to do – whether it be a celebration across the other side of
the world or an intimate dinner with your family. Stick to what is most “you.” It is not always easy – there are some seriously tough/ complex moments when it comes to family and decision making. But the more you talk through everything and not make fast, brash decision, the better the result is. It always works out!
