Lush Wedding Inspiration with a Bougainvillea Backdrop
Amaranthus was the star of this morning’s wedding, but bougainvillea steals the show in this inspiration shoot from 1985Luke Photography, SmittenKiss Weddings and Events, and Vo Floral Design. The hot pink blooms adorn a wreath-like ceremony backdrop that’s guaranteed to catch some glances, and play a supporting role in the bride’s bouquet with a few cascading bright pink and orange ribbons.
From the event designer, SmittenKiss Weddings and Events: As summer quietly slipped away and California was welcoming fall, we wanted to savor the last moments of warmth before the cooler nights set in. SmittenKiss Owner and Designer Cali Nguyen teamed up with an impeccable floral artist Vo Floral Design Trang Vo who is no stranger to the fine arts world, to create a stunning inspiration shoot. The Fitz Place is nestled south of San Jose, but holds a unique and natural silence that seems far away from the metro life. The boutique 1930s countryside home boasts over 5 acres of land and vineyards that would make anyone fall in love and we were beyond blessed to create something so mesmerizing there.
The color palette was fun as we played with black, whites, gold accents and immensely showy floral. The exciting part was being able to work the bougainvilleas into the shoot. It was a piece of longing warmth that many weddings have trouble savoring due to the flower’s fragile state. Vo Floral created a breathtaking floral chandelier, her signature “Circle of Love” arch and Cindy’s Little Cakery created a ravishing cake which articulated black in artful form. Bougainvilleas are special because in it’s natural lusciousness, other blooms will pale in comparison. Though we were set in a rustic environment, we wanted to push the envelope and make it a glamorous and timeless appeal. The day came to a close and we were quite happy with the results. We hope you enjoy the shoot as much we enjoyed putting it together.
