Lush + Romantic Wedding at Carondelet House
Newlyweds Ashley and Jung wanted to wow their wedding guests with their reception, so they booked Los Angeles’ beautiful Carondelet House, brought on Charis Events & Design to take care of the planning + design while Designer Dana tackled floral duty, and Andy Seo was tasked with capturing the day from beginning to end. A verdant living wall with lush ivory flowers sat behind the couple’s sweetheart table, for a reception vignette we’re loving.
From the bride, Ashley: Jung and I met over a dating app called coffee meets bagel. I really only went on it so my mom would get off of my back! What drew me to my husband is the way he started our conversation. Usually people ask you how you’re doing or where you’re from. But Jung opened with “I really like your name” which I loved. Our proposal: It was a Friday night and I was coming home late after teaching a music class. I was talking to Jung on the phone on my way home and he told me he was at my house. When I opened my door I was taken back a bit because all of the lights were off except the room was filled with candles and roses. My pomeranian, Moka, came towards me and he was wearing a backpack. As I opened the backpack, Jung came out and he got down on one knee and popped the question. He was so nervous he almost put the ring on the wrong finger!
I’ve always been a girly girl. I loved the color pink! For my wedding, I loved the blush/Indian pink color. I wanted a simple wedding, but I gravitated towards a romantic/elegant look. Because I’m a teacher and I teach on the side, I was super busy. My husband was too. We knew it would be impossible to plan a wedding without a planner. I finalized the details over my two-week Christmas break. Grace and Dana (my florist) were amazing. I could tell they were truly invested in my wedding. Planning and designing in the short time we gave them was hard, but? they made it happen.
I’ve heard that on your wedding day you don’t get to eat or enjoy your day at all. So I made it my mission to eat and enjoy the day no matter what. I mean, how often do you get to throw a huge beautiful party to celebrate yourself with family and friends? Everything was perfect. A few special moments I want to highlight are: Spending time with my family and friends. I have 6 aunts and 5 of them were able to attend my wedding. Three of them flew from South Korea to attend my wedding. My 85 year old grandma also came from Korea just for the wedding. The time spent with my family and friends, that was magical. Grace and Dana (my florist) surprised me by going above and beyond for the design of backdrop of my reception site. They covered the entire wall with florals, and it looked amazing. My childhood best friend Angela is a pastry chef. She flew all the way from Orlando with all of her materials and ingredients to make my wedding cake.
