Love and Hearts California Wedding
As soon as bride Irene told us the theme of her wedding was “love and hearts,” we knew we were in for one sweet treat. This wedding from Delbarr Moradi is heavy on the pastels and candy-colored decor, and the couple’s dessert table is truly the one to end all cake tables! Stay tuned for some fantastic advice from Irene and a beautiful film from Michael Baca!
From the bride, Irene: The theme of our wedding was “love & hearts”. I envisioned hearts everywhere with soft colors surrounding everyone. Everything from the invitations, photobooth props, to the hanging garlands were swelling with a sweet candy palette and whimsical hearts. Our wedding had a very personal feel to it and we worked really hard to do everything on our own without an event planner.
I wanted a DIY feel with a touch of vintage. I collected vintage table cloths, picture frames, vases, and teapots for months to give the wedding a personal touch. I had many handmade items (invitations, table numbers, garlands, guestbook, flowers, signs, wedding website) and our wedding favor was even a CD — sung and recorded at home by me and my husband (he even wrote a song for the bridal processional that was included).
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Pick a photographer first and be willing to splurge on it! Photos last forever and you will look back on them time and time again. Get a videographer! I am so happy we decided to hire one and capture the day for us in real time. Ask around and find an up-and-coming videographer who is on the verge of breaking into the scene. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from friends and family. Don’t give away all the planning to an event planner. Add your own touches to show your guests a special side of you and your significant other. Learn to do your own makeup. Find blogs and videos to get advice. You can save a lot of money here! And practice a lot! Hire or ask a friend to be a Day-of coordinator. I didn’t have a wedding planner but I did have a day-of person. You don’t want to be stressed on the wedding day and you don’t want to know if something is going wrong.
