From the planner, The Wedding Bliss Thailand: Growing up on opposite sides of the globe (she’s from Bangkok, he’s from New York), a destination wedding felt like a must for the couple’s nuptials. The bride and groom ultimately chose Phuket, Thailand, with an oceanfront wedding in mind. “For us, Phuket has a special place in our hearts,” says Darlene. “After our first trip, it became an annual visit for our first 4 years together”. On our big day, we wanted to be surrounded by the islands and crystal blue water we loved so much – and Baba Nest’s stunning 360-degree backdrop at the luxurious Sri Panwa hotel offered exactly that”.
From the first time that Darlene and Robert approached The Wedding Bliss, they expressed they wanted their wedding at Sri Panwa to be elegant, intimate, and memorable. According to The Wedding Bliss, “the theme of Darlene’s and Robert’s wedding was ‘timeless’ which we incorporated throughout our planning and design process. Baba Nest, with backdrops of the surrounding island and the Andaman Sea, is one of the most breathtaking venues on Phuket island. This wasn’t a simple ceremony on the beach. We had to create an epic setting that truly played to its beauty, elegance, and romanticism”. “After all,” says The Wedding Bliss, “the venue is arguably one, if not the most important thing, a couple decides upon since it defines the rest of their wedding planning”.
On a sunny December day, The Wedding Bliss fulfilled every wish of the couple’s ‘timeless’ wedding. They enhanced the ambiance by adorning the venue with gold metals stands decorated with white phalaenopsis orchids, ivory English roses, and pink pampas grass. The aisle and altar, both made of mirror, reflected the bright blue sky above. With the melody of Christina Perri’s ‘A Thousand Years’ in the background, Darlene radiated glamour and soft femininity as she walked down the aisle in her fit and flare Chantilly lace and embellished Inbal Dror gown. “Seeing how stunning she looked in her wedding dress put me to tears because I realized how lucky I was to be marrying her”, said Robert in a custom Jake Mueser suit. After exchanging heartfelt personal vows, Darlene and Robert, married at sunset surrounded by an intimate group of family and closest friends.
The bride and groom, along with their guests, were escorted by traditional Thai tuk-tuks to the reception at Baba Pool Club, also located at Sri Panwa hotel. Extending the ‘timeless’ theme into the night celebration, The Wedding Bliss team also infused the couple’s elegant color palette with white, black, coral, and champagne tones. The reception venue was decorated with ivory ceiling drapes, white and black plating paired with gold plated cutlery, and two dozen twinkling candles in tall votives. As the newly-weds and their guests, under fairy lights, danced the night away it was filled with joy, laughter, and love. “This is truly the wedding of our dreams,’’ said Darlene. “And to share it with the people we love, all who journeyed to Phuket, made this day ‘timeless’ and one that we’ll always cherish forever”.
