Handmade Wedding Inspiration
We’re delighted to share this next shoot with you all, inspired by photographer Athena Pelton‘s love of all things etsy and handmade. Nearly everything from the photoshoot is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, right down to the bride’s wedding gown with touches of blush pink! Prepare yourself for some eye candy styled by the wonderful Nadia of A Fine Fete Events and some handmade greatness.
From the photographer, Athena: I recently designed and shot an inspiration shoot styled around my vintage dressmaker sewing machine. As I was pulling inspiration for the shoot, I found myself on Etsy all. day. long. Looking for inspiration, and perusing the beautiful handmade goodness that abounds.
Being a knitter, sewer, and all-around-craft-maven myself, I cherish handmade, and saw this as an amazing opportunity to celebrate the fantastic resources that Etsy provides and style a wedding shoot around vintage love – and handmade details. The design of the shoot itself isn’t groundbreaking, but the concept behind using as many handmade items as possible (including the one-of-a-kind blush gown!) is something that any bride can embrace.

I love so much about this! That spearmint colored sewing machine is just so retro, I covet it so much. I love her dress too… really sweet.
This is very pretty. I like the selection of flowers they used to the silver tea items. I like everything about it =]
So happy to have been a part of this. Athena is a goddess with a camera! The meadow is amazing/ethereal.
This is such a fun wedding! I am a sucker for ALL things vintage. The bride looks absolutely gorgeous and I can’t get enough of the decor. It reminds me of what our Bellagala brides are doing this wedding season- rustic chic!
this shoot is so dreamy!
I absolutely adore these wedding pictures. Does anyone know where this wedding took place? The setting is absolutely stunning, and I really like the flowers that she used on all the tables and in her bouquet. It’s the same palette and concept I want to use for our wedding in October. I love everything from the “groom” and “bride” chairs to the bride’s absolutely stunning one-of-a-kind blush gown. Everything has such a gorgeous vintage charm, and the concept behind using as many handmade items as possible was incorporated really nice. I think anytime someone can put his or her own charm into the wedding, it makes for such a nice personal touch. The whole DIY aspect of weddings has really taken off in popularity and creativity, which is just awesome! Athena Pelton definitely gave this shoot a wonderful inspiration.
This vintage shoot is gorgeous! Her dress with the blue jewellery is beautiful. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Jill!
Thank you so much for your lovely comments – and congrats on your upcoming wedding!! October is such a great month, and I’m sure your day will be exquisite! This wedding took place in a wildflower meadow in suburban Minneapolis, MN, but I’m sure something similar can be found anywhere. Reach out to your wedding photographer for help in finding a location – they are a wonderful resource!
I hope that helps and I wish you absolutlely the best of luck and happiest of blessings!
