Handcrafted Fall Wedding Inspiration
Have we mentioned how much we love fall? We have? Well, you’ll probably hear it from us a few more times because we’re just so excited for this cooler weather and the excuse to cuddle up under a blanket with a warm mug of tea. This shoot from Kellie Rae Studio jumps right into some of the best parts of fall, and implements fantastic ideas for all you do-it-yourself brides out there. We absolutely love the pistachio shell flowers made by Kellie!
From the photographer, Kellie Rae Studio: We’ve all seen a TON of DIY weddings lately, which is SO awesome! But, I just wanted to show that it’s totally possible to produce something way uniquely beautiful and do it all yourself. I also think it’s easy for DIY to be overdone and expensive. I wanted this shoot to look effortless, but detailed all while being something totally doable and a smaller budget. Also, can we please share pistachio flowers that are not only totally adorable but also really fun to make? Because who doesn’t love an instant snack during crafting?
I guess this isn’t all done by me, because I can’t sew this super adorable dress which is from Rent the Runway. The pie toppers were something I came across on etsy and just had to have. I found a tree that had to be chopped in the woods behind my house, grabbed a chainsaw and cut some pieces from it for the centerpiece. Only almost cut my hand off once. The plates, silverware (well, goldware), and the candles are thrifted from Savers and Goodwill. The pine cones smell like Christmas and are from Michaels. So is the gold spray paint that I used a ton of!
The bouquet includes the pistachio flowers I made, as well as some pine cones I glued in there. I stopped on the side of the road and grabbed some of the ornamental grass that has taken over the ditch and included that in the bouquet as well. Wrapped it up and called it good! The couple, they aren’t actually engaged, but I really think they should be. Nick’s clothes came from his closet, nothing needed to be bought for this. Bailey, the model, did her own hair and makeup. Oh, and they brought their dog. I, personally, think more dogs need to be involved in weddings. They’re so cute!
What a wonderful shoot. The consistency of the colors is very impressive. Nice work Kellie Rae Studio.
