Here's Why More Couples Are Getting Married in Connecticut
Talk about a strong way to start the week! Colleen and Dustin’s New England farm wedding is some serious eye candy, and once you glimpse their fine soiree, you’ll understand just why more + more couples are getting married in Connecticut. Surrounded by gardens in bloom and wide open acres, C+D’s wedding was filled with drippy greenery and industrial bulbs that created the most romantic ambiance. See for yourself below!
Pat Furey captures images that engage (no pun intended!) His editorial photography style is all about freezing those moments that just come naturally, and in doing so, he’s able to frame some of the most memorable moments of the day.
Lion Rock Farm has acres of open fields for daysssss. We’re loving the look of this dark-washed farmhouse bumming with the prettiest market lights!
Amy Champagne Events cultivated a celebration that was simulatenously refined and down-to-earth. An arbor made from timber and wild branches takes center stage at the ceremony, while cozy lounge vignettes provide form and function at the cocktail hour. Don’t even get us started on the awesome reception decor they whipped up in the tent!
Stunning blonde mermaid waves + the most alluring eye shadow from The Beauty Bar.
Her sexy embroidered lace wedding dress from Wtoo by Watters slays with a capital S!
Isn’t the vintage postcard idea so cute?!
We’re loving this lounge vignette, complete with upholstered sofas and golden drum stools from Gather + Lounge.
Without Kamilla’s Floral Design, we would not have this mixed foliage chandelier with Edison bulbs hanging in the center. And that would be a travesty indeed! So much character and dimension in her arrangements!
From the event planner, Lindsey of Amy Champagne Events: Working with Colleen and Dustin was an absolute dream! When they had first reached out to us, we knew that their wedding was going to be something incredible. Living in California, and planning a wedding from across the country, they certainly wanted to make sure that they brought a piece of their home with them.
In the beginning stages of talking about the design with Colleen and Dustin, they really wanted to make sure that the West Coast vibe was felt, even though we were in upstate Connecticut on a farm with mountains surrounding us, and no coast in sight. We were really able to create that feel through our color palette, picking the right textures and a good plan.
Such a spacious, airy tent from Mahaiwe Tent! We’d forget we weren’t on the inside of a cloud!
Yellow is Colleen’s favorite color, and she really wanted to make sure that we incorporated it into the flower details. Adding gorgeous butter yellow flowers, in with a mix of blushes, soft whites, and greens helped us achieve that! Something Colleen knew she wanted from day one, was to dance under a floral chandelier dripping in lights. The combined effort of Colleen’s unbelievably talented mom, the amazing floral team at Kamilla’s Floral Design, and Handy Boys lighting, her dream came true. It was the perfect focal point for the tent, and all of their guests were absolutely blown away by it!
These femme v-back dresses from Show Me Your Mumu would make every bridesmaid say, “Yep, I’ll wear THAT again!”
We also wanted to have some fun with texture throughout the wedding. Bringing in a gorgeous natural colored, true linen napkin from LaTavola Linens was the base of each place setting. On top of the napkin, we added Borrowed & Blu’s gold rimmed Alabaster charger. This semi opaque glass plate had an almost marble look, and added another level of gorgeousness to the guest tables. Adding some more rich gold coloring into the tablescape was a priority for Colleen and Dustin, so the modern shape of the Vanderbilt gold flatware from Party Rental LTD was absolutely perfect. Finally, we sought out find just the right color vintage green for the water glasses. This sea green glassware was the exact tone Colleen and Dustin had talked about, and thanks to Classical Tent, it helped round out the foundations to our guest tables!
Oh. em. gee. How cute is this punny table number idea?
The lounge furniture from Gather + Lounge was the perfect addition to the casual vibe to both cocktail hour and the reception. During one of Colleen and Dustin’s visits to Connecticut, we went over to the Gather + Lounge warehouse, and Colleen was in her glory! She was able to pick out the exact couches, chairs, and every single accent piece for the lounge. We went through a few different options until we found the perfect combination, and seeing how much their friends and family enjoyed spending time lounging throughout the night was exactly what she was aiming for!
Some people might think it is tricky working with clients from across the country, managing schedules, and making everything come together, but I personally love being a part of a wedding like this! Seeing Colleen and Dustin bring just the right amount of their laid back, and relaxed California lifestyle to this fully working farm in upstate Connecticut turned out to be more incredible that I could have ever imagined!
