Vintage Inspired Wedding in Downtown LA
The second I saw these images from Monica and James’ wedding at LA’s Oviatt Penthouse, it occurred to me that I might just have a new favorite wedding venue. Rich with architectural details that are a nod to years ago, it’s a beautiful spot that’s sure to inspire any vintage-loving bride. Let’s Frolic Together and Rosebud Floral Design put together some incredible work to tell the couple’s love story, which includes a breathtaking first look on the rooftops of downtown LA!
From the photographer, Jasmine of Let’s Frolic Together: James and Monica’s charmingly Art Deco wedding was filled with delightful details that celebrated the past. The day began at the Los Angeles Athletic Club; this historic hotel set the perfect vintage tone for the day. Monica’s gorgeous Jenny Packman dress, her adorable shoes, the bride’s maids sweet pink frocks, it was all so splendid. I particularly loved the bride’s maids glittering chiffon capelets. On the rooftop of the Athletic Club with their reception venue in the distance, James and Monica saw each other for the first time. Surrounded by the skyscrapers of LA, it was an awesome mesh of history and modernity.
The Oviatt Penthouse provided a rich sense of gorgeous 1920s history, brimming with details from the past. From Monica’s sweet bouquet to the Italian fountains to the checkerboard dance floor the unique details added up to a beautiful story paying homage to the past. It was a true DIY affair as James and his groomsmen set everything up. I loved the giant marquee lights love sign and even when we got rained out during the reception everyone bound together and the energy of the party grew indoors. These dance maniacs were a joy to photograph and the wild day was wonderful from start to finish.
