Kate Spade Inspired Wedding in Hawaii
If there are three words that make my heart beat faster, they’re “Kate Spade inspired.” Lauren and Kawika’s wedding was a mixture of the modern designer’s style and carnivals, with heaps of stripes, polka dots, gold, and bright colors thrown in for good measure, and you won’t believe how well everything turned out in the end. Of course, it couldn’t have been done without the talents of vendors Ashley Goodwin, L4Love by Lauren Smith, and Passion Roots, among many others!
From the bride, Lauren: I envisioned a colorful, romantic, whimsical wedding inspired by carnivals and Kate Spade. I love the contrast of bold stripes and polka dots with accents of color. Some adjectives that best describe the look of our wedding: whimsical, magical, dreamy. We didn’t really have a color scheme but I wanted accents of black and white stripes and metallic gold dots. The colors really came from the flowers. The reception tables had pink, white and orange hydrangea centerpieces and the head table was filled with large arrangements containing hydrangeas, garden roses and a mixture of pink and orange billowing flowers.
Bouquet recipe: Peonies, garden roses, hydrangeas, ranunculus and eucalyptus leaves.
DIY projects include: Lemonade stand that turned into a whiskey bar, table numbers which were a variety of Royal Albert teacups and saucers filled with moss that we collected from our backyard, instead of table runners we used Kate Spade double sided wrapping paper to give the table some texture, I folded all of the napkins into bows (Kate Spade inspired), my dad made the wooden cheese boxes that were used for some of the reception centerpieces, we put together the entire candy bar ourselves, and we made the menu and a lot of the signage used.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Don’t be afraid to share your personal style with your guests; they love you for who you are! Many people told me that certain ideas I had wouldn’t go well together or that it was too much work. I backed off a little at first then realized, it was my wedding so even though my ideas may have seemed crazy, I decided to go for it… and it definitely paid off!

My kinda gal! I was curious who the vendor is for the bridesmaids flowers?
