Handcrafted Wedding at Franciscan Gardens
No matter how many times I look it over, I just can’t get enough of this wedding. Maybe it’s the flamingo figurines, the natural elements like jute table runners and fresh fruit place settings, or even the Jonathan Adler salt and pepper cake toppers? Whatever it is, this gorgeous day from Yuna Leonard Photography and The Bloom of Time has shot its way up to the top of our list of favorites.
From the bride, Hedi: It was really important for us that our wedding felt organic and not too fussy, we liked to say we were going for an Indian-summer vibe. We wanted to incorporate natural materials, so we used jute runners on each dining table, and used tangerines as name tags on each place setting. We asked our florist to use a lot of greenery for our centerpieces instead of flowers which filled out our tables so nicely.
Bouquet recipe: Garden roses, queen anne’s lace, a dusty miller stem or two, mint, and jasmine vine.
Stephen and I hired vendors who not only had a similar aesthetic to us, but who seemed like we would be friends outside of our planning process. We were so lucky to find such creative vendors who were just so kind and accommodating. We knew we wanted a venue where we could have an outdoor ceremony so when we found Franciscan Gardens, it was love at first sight. Once we booked our venue, we found our photographer from seeing her photos featured on a wedding blog. We just fell in love with her and her style and knew we didn’t want to hire anyone else. We also can’t speak highly enough about our florist, The Bloom of Time. We were given her info from our venue coordinator who said, “she is amazing”, and she really was. We gave her a few inspiration photos and but just told her do whatever she thought was best. My favorite DIY project from our wedding was our “love” marquee. I spotted the tutorial on Pinterest and immediately knew that this was a project worth sweating over.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? My advice for other couples is to accept help when others offer, it is impossible to do everything yourself. Our wedding was so special because of the help that our family and friends gave us, whether it was picking something up, hand writing labels, or even a few dance lessons here and there, they are moments we will never forget.
