Handcrafted Alabama Wedding
One of our all-time favorite tips for saving room in the budget is to look for a wedding dress at nontraditional locations. Bride Kaitlin found her nothing-short-of stunning Aidan Mattox gown by way of Saks Fifth Avenue and saved a pretty penny without compromising on style — leaving more room to budget for an incredible photographer, Morgan Trinker. This wedding was put together with the aid of happy helpers and a whole lot of love that shines straight through!
From the bride, Kaitlin: I went for a whimsical meets timeless kind of feel; a mixture of class and comfort. We wanted an Intimate, At-Home, Handmade Wedding. Oh, boy, did I have a lot of DIY projects. Where to start!
The invites and all signage were all hand drawn or designed through Adobe InDesign, and the seating chart was done with a little ribbon, a few branches and some printed name cards. The “So Much Love For You Darling” banner was hand drawn on canvas, sewn, and decorated with ribbons. We had a faux Moroccan Blanket with hand sewn ribbons and added garland, flower toss cones done with detailed paper, flower toss table with cut holes for cones. Just spare wood, a few nails and a lot of stain, and paper straws with silver and metallic tape flags. The ceremony platform was built by my father-in-law and draped with the faux Moroccan blanket. The desserts were made by my husband, mother, mother-in-law and aunt. Marscapone cheesecake to macarons!
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Don’t stress about the wedding. It’s the marriage that truly counts. And above all – respect. Before the wedding, at the wedding, after the wedding, always – respect.

very lovely rustic, low key wedding.
Love the colored wedding dress
As much as I love her dress – and it’s a lot – that French Bulldog steals the show!
Love the dress! All those little DIY details were such a nice thing to wake up to when I checked my email! 🙂 Congratulations to the bride and groom!
Good choice of choosing such an unfamiliar outdoor location. I must say the photography work is spell bounding. I liked specially the paper thread that has the names in it. The couple has magnified the occasion with their charm.
