Bohemian Valentine’s Day Inspiration
As far as Valentine’s Day events go, this one is just about as pretty as it gets. With a greenery backdrop in a loose diamond design, plenty of French desserts, and an incredible embellished gown from Bree Lena topped off with a floral crown, every bit is styled to utter perfection by photographers Lori Romney Photography and Jennifer Fauset Photography.
From the photographers, Lori Romney and Jennifer Fauset: As photographers, we loved creating this romantic, cozy, Valentine’s inspired shoot in the warmth of our Salt Lake City studio. We used a color story of pinks, reds and golds. Since Valentine’s Day makes us think of sweet treats, everything about this photo shoot was based around these amazing and delicious pastries. Our pastry chef, Dani with The Petite Pastry, went all out! The gorgeous color of her sumptuous treats made our table drip with romance. Dani amazed us with her “not cake” cakes, and this cream puff cake was divine! It added texture and interest to our entire event. Everyone involved kept sneaking the pink almond heart shaped cookies. YUM! We wanted the desserts to shine, so we asked our floral design contributor to help us with understated floral arrangements to tie in the Valentine theme. The vine wall was our favorite part! It was made from Eucalyptus that smelled of perfection. It added warmth and beauty to our walls.
The dress was another very important item on our check list! We knew that we wanted sophisticated and romantic. Bree Lena is such a talent and her designs are amazing. This one of a kind dress was a new design she is working on for Provo Fashion Week and we were lucky enough to get to use it, just hours after she finished making it! It is simply stunning. The elegance of this backless gown, mixed with the stunning beaded fabric, looked flawless on our model, Abby. This dress is so intricate, laced with heavy beads, it couldn’t even be hung on a hanger! She brought it to the studio folded up perfectly in a box.
From the pastry chef, The Petite Pastry: Since returning from my fairytale surprise honeymoon in Paris, the city of romance, I have been flirting with the idea of a French-themed table scape full of delicate, sweet aphrodisiac—sweet nothings that inspire and cultivate love. In the limelight is the classic croquembouche, a traditional French wedding “cake” that was created for royalty. A croquembouche is a tower of creme-filled cream puffs held together by caramel and spun sugar. Classic French cookies of all varieties were brought in as supporting cast, including chocolate-dipped pirouettes, brown-butter madelines, strawberry-meringue rosettes, eclairs, almond icebox hearts, and assorted rosewater macaroons.
And just because there wasn’t a traditional wedding cake doesn’t mean didn’t mean we missed out. Oh, there was cake. The classic French opera cake consists of layered jaconde cake soaked in espresso syrup, coffee buttercream, topped with mirror glaze and edible 24k gold leaf was made into bite-sized petite four shapes and paired with chocolate-covered strawberries. Other cakes included a freestanding white chocolate creme cake finished with fresh strawberries and white chocolate shavings, and mini chocolate angel food bundt cakes. As you can see, this sweet table adds to the ambiance of romance and beauty that the couple radiates. I think this French-inspired wedding is one for the history books.
