French Mod Dinner Party
Can you believe it’s already nearing the end of December? In the midst of all our party planning, outfit arranging, and gift wrapping, we’re always happy to see some fantastic ideas — just like the ones seen in this styled shoot from Melanie Caskey and Sarah Donovan of The Stationery Bakery. The pops of tangerine, silver glitter, and rich pinks are sure to please — and don’t you just love the curling ribbon chandelier made by Sweet Sunday Events?
From the photographer and stylist, Melanie Caskey: Our inspiration came from a desire to create an elegant but quirky winter wedding styled shoot suited for a New Years’ celebration.
The styling was a team effort between Sarah Donovan with The Stationery Bakery and myself. The inspiration came from a shared passion for vintage detail and retro flair. What started with a few elegant French accents to dress up the dinner table and dessert display, turned into silver highlights of sequins and tinsel to play up our wintery New Years theme. To further portray a playful mood we utilized orange and pink components whose inspiration came from our love of mod detail. In order to keep a quirky touch we hand selected our dishes and small animal statues from local vintage stores, even our dress was rented from a well known boutique.
We incorporated a DIY seating arrangement using printed materials from The Stationery Bakery and supplies available from any craft store. The retro chandelier was created out of curling ribbon and made by another local vendor, Sweet Sunday Events.
