Elegant Colorado Winter Wedding
When we talk about picture-perfect weddings, this one tops the list — for example, the scenery during the ceremony was so picturesque we had to do a double take to make sure it was real! Thank you, Colorado. Lisa O’Dwyer, Pink Diamond Events, and Hana Style Designs all lived up to their incredible potential working on Joette and Justin’s wedding day, full of darling details and great ideas to inspire your own wedding day.
From the bride, Joette: We both love the outdoors and wanted a beautiful, natural scene for the backdrop of our wedding. We wanted the day to represent who we are and to be an intimate celebration with the people closest to us. We wanted get out of town and I asked Justin – beach or mountains? He picked mountains. Oddly enough, my parents have friends who just finished building out a home in Estes Park, and they had extended an invitation to visit. My mom and I went for a weekend, and it was just beautiful. I sent Justin some pictures and then my mom and I spent the weekend looking at venues with her friend as our personal guide.
I think our wedding was classic and timeless in a rustic setting (for lack of more eloquent words!). I wanted soft tones to balance out the wood and the dark room at the reception. Overall it was exactly what I envisioned and the images perfectly capture that feeling. Our personalities are a mix of rugged and soft. I believe our flowers included some hydrangeas and soft pink roses, we had some greenery hanging from the chandeliers. We also incorporated branches in the table settings and our florist spray painted some succulents gold which was an awesome touch.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? The double edged sword is that images and ideas are readily available through print and social media. It’s incredibly helpful and yet overwhelming. It also makes it easier to get swept up in all of the wrong things and forget why you are truly planning a wedding. When your wedding day comes there are always elements outside of your control – no matter how much planning you have done. Surround yourself with people you can trust and go into the day knowing that you may have a good story or two to tell. The goal is not a perfect day, but a joyful life together.
