Downtown Las Vegas Wedding

A ceremony in a little Las Vegas chapel followed by portraits strolling through Sin City’s downtown streets has this quirky little wedding capturing our attention and our hearts. Chelsea and Mike let their destination wedding location determine their style and the feel of their big day, which was full of carefree fun and gold glitter details, all captured by Gaby J Photography.

From the bride, Chelsea: We got married in Las Vegas, NV and didn’t want to be over the top with a Vegas theme. We wanted the day to be taken seriously but at the same time a lot of fun. Carefree and classy. I had visions of gold and light pink with a vintage pop. The most important thing for me was the photos. So we picked our location based on art. And Gaby J was the perfect fit. I wanted unique wedding photos, so the neon boneyard and the desert is what made us originally pick Vegas. But with Gaby’s help we found even more unique places to shoot like the “Pink Motel.’

My ‘feather’ bottom dress and the girls’ gold sequin dresses were our alternative edge combined with all the unique backdrops the strip and Fremont St. had to offer gave us exactly what we were looking for. Fun unique artistic wedding. The gold sequin dresses and my blue suede shoes screamed Vegas to me. And my dress I wouldn’t have chosen if we got married back home in North Dakota! It was uniquely Vegas. Soft pink and gold was our color scheme. Our look was a touch of Vegas– with the gold sequin classic Vegas dresses mixed with our light pink more classic florals.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? I have tons of 20/20 hindsight vision now. I learned that there is no such thing as over-planning. With a destination wedding, I do wish I had planned out “what if” details a little better. I did learn that no matter what, not everything will run smoothly. And that’s ok! Just keep in mind what is important to you that day. For myself it was to have a good day and be easy going. AND!!! Even if you are so sick of taking photos. Keep taking them! They are SO worth it in the end! AND!!! Put your money into what is important for you. For us it was the photos and the dinner, where we did an iPod playlist for our music and even forgot all about a guest book! We spent the money and planning on what was most important to us. Enjoy the day. It goes by in a blink of an eye!
