DIY Fabric Place Cards
We’re back with a DIY tutorial from Desiree Spinner Events stemming from our earlier Valentine’s Day Table for Two. Using simple and affordable materials, the team at DS Events has pulled together a step-by-step guide to create colorful book name tags perfect for two guests or a hundred guests. Just choose your favorite fabric in your wedding colors to tailor the look to your big day. Enjoy!
1 – Pick out your favorite Valentine’s Day fabric to wrap your gifted book in. Lay the book down on the fabric and cut a rectangle around the book, allotting enough fabric to wrap the book in, as you did when you were protecting your books in grade school with kraft paper.
2 – Tuck the excess fabric under the front and back cover of the book.
3 – From the top of the fabric, cut down in the fold until you hit the book. Then, create a right angle
and cut along the top edge of the fabric, leaving a tab inside of the top front cover. Do this at all
corners of the book.
4 – Put glue on the right sides of the tabs, and glue to the wrong sides of the fabric used for the
front and back covers. Once glued, put back onto the book.
5 – Now that your book is covered, let’s decorate. Cut ribbon that will be able to wrap around the book three times. At the middle of the ribbon, place a dot of glue and place on the back cover of the book. Flip over, and tie at front cover.
6 – Cut three hearts out of felt. Take one of the hearts and hand sew the name of your Valentine.
7 -Glue the hearts to the front of your book, and you’re done! Instant Valentine!

That is so cute! And what a great way to avoid having to buy wrapping paper. I just posted about making valentines from the pages of old books on my blog — that would go so well with a gift of a book!
Fantastic DIY ideas! I love the simplicity!
