DIY Caramel Popcorn

YUM is all I can say about our next project. This wedding favor may be the perfect marriage of movie nights and strolls on the boardwalk in the summer, and would look adorable in any wedding. Caramel popcorn is unbelievably easy to make, the only challenge will be trying not to eat it all.

I used this recipe as the base and added peanuts for a Crunch ‘n Munch taste. This project was made in batches of microwavable popcorn bags since we could only fit 2-3 trays in the oven. Depending on how many wedding favors you need, you might to make them in batches, small enough to fit in the oven. To make the carnival ticket curtain for the backdrop above: cut strings of tickets in different lengths, fold each in zig zag, and attach them onto a curtain rod or long wire.

After baking your caramel corn, transfer it to a sheet of wax paper and spread the popcorn in small chunks. Let it cool down for a few hours before you start filling the cups. Cut a square of about 20 inches of cellophane (or any other food safe plastic wrap) to package your favors, tie with a tag and ribbon et voila. This project can be made up to 3 days before the wedding.

  • This is so perfect and timely. I’ve been mulling over having a popcorn bar at my wedding and really wanted to make the popcorn myself. I’ll have to test out this recipe before the big day, maybe a few times 😉
