Palm Springs Destination Wedding in Bright Pink
These jet setters got engaged in the Amalfi Coast and married in California, and used inspiration from their heritage and travels to create the dreamiest colorful wedding in Palm Springs. With bright yellow lemons inspired by the Amalfi Coast, tropical greens from the groom’s love of the tropics, and bold colors inspired by the bride’s Cuban heritage; they created the perfect blend of who they are that came alive in the gorgeous florals by The Best Day Ever Floral Design. There’s also their adorable dog in a yellow bowtie so like, what else could we possibly want? Soak in these gorgeously vibrant and colorful wedding captured by The Poffs.
From the bride:Â When Karl and I were planning our wedding together, we felt that the most important thing to us was to plan a wedding that best represents us as a couple and as individuals. We are a team, and always have been for the past 6 years. So, our wedding was a perfect blend of exactly who we are while also staying on trend. We were inspired from my Cuban background, Karl’s love for the tropics, California being where we met and our connection to the Amalfi Coast where we got engaged. Sounds like a lot but I promise, once you figure out the theme, the decor starts to fall into place.
We chose this estate because it was the only place that looked like an oasis in the middle of the Palm Springs desert. It has Cuban vibes with the views of the Palm Springs desert mountains. Karl also felt it was important to find a venue that could accommodate our immediate family. My family is in Texas and Karl’s is in New Jersey. So, it was perfect having just us there the entire weekend for our families to get to know each other even better!
We called our wedding party, BrideChicas and GroomDudes. Calling my best girlfriends my maids just never sat well with me. Karl and I are the opposite of tradition and truly wanted to make our wedding our own. So, naturally, my BrideChicas were dressed in bold red dresses with gold hoops I gifted them the morning of, and Karl’s GroomDudes were in beach grey suits with coral pocket squares he gifted them as well.Â
Cuban girl can’t get married without a Cuban cigar roller and dominos! That was one of my favorite things about our wedding entertainment for our guest…but also for us, duh! Karl and his GroomDudes love to play the drinking game, quarters. He told me we HAD to have an area for that, and we did! One of the groomdudes even hosts a yearly quarters championship! It’s pretty serious…there’s even trophies for the winners! Deciding what cuisine we wanted for our wedding reception was pretty easy…Italian!!! Karl is very connected with his German/Italian roots. And not only did we get engaged on the beach of Positano in the Amalfi Coast of Italy, we also stuff our faces with pasta at least once a week, no twice, maybe 3 times a week, haha.
Other unique moments from our wedding was my dance with my dad. We Cubans love to salsa! And my dad and I are pretty amazing at it. We danced to the song “Cuba” by The Gibson Brothers. It was quite the performance and not like the usually slow father, daughter song. Also, our wedding party did not do a traditional entrance. We felt it is usually pretty cheesy and you don’t really get to know who they are. And after all their hard work during the stressful wedding planning and organizing our bachelor/bachelorette trips, we felt they deserved a proper introduction. So, we decided to introduce them our selves, one by one and gave a short description of who they are and what they mean to us.
Let me tell you one more secret to creating your one of kind, true to yourself wedding…don’t tell your fiancĂ© what to wear. Karl didn’t get a say on what my dress should look like, so it’s only fair that I don’t get a say in what he wants to wear on the best day of his life too. It’s the most important day for both of us and we both want to look and feel our absolute best. We didn’t have our phone on us all day and being present, in love and insanely happy, made our wedding day the best day ever!
