Chic Costa Rica Elopement For the Free-Spirited Couple
This ultra romantic styled shoot turned elopement in Costa Rica is the perfect blend of boho chic and glamor with a pinch of mystical. We love how perfectly wild and textured the decor and florals are designed to enhance the natural beauty of Hacienda Barrigona and the breathtaking Barrigona Beach. Between the intimate al fresco setting to the hand-woven macrame lamps and statement bridal crown, this is not your typical coastal wedding. Our hearts are all aflutter as we peruse the gorgeous photos by Raw Shoots Photography so enough with the chit chat and let’s dive right on in!
From the photographers, Raw Shoots Photography: Mystic Breeze is a styled editorial shoot in Costa Rica, but it turned into a real intimate elopement for Masha and David, an engaged couple who have been together for almost 10 years, prior to celebrating with their families next year.
We chose this venue because it itself is already a hidden gem – A boutique hotel located on the Pacific Coast, hosting up to only 25 guests maximum, and it is the only property in the area that has its own access to the pristine Barrigona Beach, making it as if we had this beautiful paradise completely and exclusively to ourselves.
The idea of this concept is taking boho chic to a whole new level, inspired by the travel destinations Tulum & Morocco, and of course the exoticness of our country Costa Rica. Aiming for something glamorous, delicate, relaxing, but also with a touch of something mystical, this elopement shoot combines neutral hues with the turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean; dried leaves with fresh tropical florals; washed woods, raffia and wicker elements with crystal chandeliers and hand-woven macrame lamps, everything in our open-air ceremony and reception set-up.
Every detail has been given thoughtful attention. For example, we wanted a a convertible gown with removable sleeves for our bride. These lace sleeves with attached tulle give it a dramatical and romantic feeling during the ceremony, but we also designed a change of look for the bride, making her a lot more comfortable to move around, dance and relax during the beach reception.
So during the styled shoot, Masha and David exchanged their own vows and got eloped, with our staff as their witnesses. Worth to mention, this free-spirited couple are founders of an eco-friendly company that sell organic and therapeutic products, and we would like them to be part of our team, which is why we had scented oils and Palo Santo incense sticks as wedding favors, copal resin incense during the ceremony, and at the end of the day, the “groom” and the “bride” burned a bundle of dried white sage to secretly celebrate just between the two of them.
