California Country Wedding

I will never tire of chic, yet laid back soirees at gorgeous rustic venues like this wedding shot by Cameron Ingalls. California will always hold the title for wedding setting envy, and how could we blame it? Jessica and Travis injected their wedding day with bright pops of color, from their papel picado flags to the colorful ribbon backdrop for their ceremony, all with the day-of help of Mark Padgett Event Design.

From the bride, Jessica: We wanted a Mexican inspired theme because we met on a Spring break trip to San Felipe Mexico. It was complete fate that we met, I loved the bright colors that we used, and it was fun to utilized those bright hues in such neutral, but beautiful venue. Overall, we wanted our guests to have a great time with amazing food. The DJ and our caterer were super important to us, there’s nothing worse than bad food and a club DJ making your day all about them.

DIY — those words definitely tested my patience. Just kidding! We had a lot of projects going on at once: re-purposing an estate buffet table to be used as our dessert table: sanded and painted. 150 jars of homemade strawberry jam were made with hand cut fabric covers that were stitched in fuchsia thread, adorned with hand cut labels. Hand stamped and hand written seating cards. And lastly my grandpa and I made vintage looking side tables from the ground up in his garage. I used these to frame where Trav and I stood at the ceremony site. We have since then moved these gems into our bedroom as night stands.
