Black Tie Philadelphia Wedding with a Boho Twist
A bit of glam, a bit of boho — this wedding is ready to tackle it all. M2 Photography, Truly You Events, and Belovely Floral & Event Design all put in great work for Colleen and Dan’s wedding, which features a clean green and ivory color palette with only a hint of blush pink in the blooms. The couple invited all their guests to lay greenery in a circle around the ceremony space, a great way to include the most important people in your life in the most important moment!
From the photographer, M2 Photography: When I learned that Colleen and Dan planned to attend Coachella just 3 weeks before their wedding, I knew their planning journey would be a fun one! These two beauties met while vacationing by the water in New Jersey and together, they’ve traveled all over the world. It was during a three day hike to Machu Picchu that Dan got down on one knee to ask Colleen to be his partner in adventure forever.
The Horticulture Center in Philadelphia, with its glass ceilings and gorgeous greenery, set the perfect stage for their boho black tie wedding celebration. Colleen & Dan opted for long tables to create a laid back, communal vibe. Instead of traditional centerpieces, Belovely adorned each table with eucalyptus runners and an eclectic mix of candles. As a nod to their engagement adventure, guests were invited to sip on Peruvian pisco sours and to leave a love note on their guest globe.
One of the most beautiful parts of the day came when Colleen and Dan exchanged I Dos. Their officiant Alisa personalized the ceremony beautifully and we made plans for their dog, Finn, to be a part of the festivities. He was such a good boy, too! Finn showed up for photos and then escorted Dan down the aisle during the ceremony. While his parents exchanged their vows, Finn let out a little yelp of joy and the entire crowd lit up. It was such a heartwarming moment. One of my other favorite moments came when guests created a circle of love around the ceremony area by placing individual ferns on the ground before taking their seats for the ceremony. I love how the ferns encouraged guest participation and also expressed Colleen & Dan’s love for the outdoors. Towards the end of the ceremony, Colleen & Dan exchanged garlands of fragrant greenery. In addition to being beautiful and marking a celebratory moment, the garlands served as a reminder that life is short and should be enjoyed. And enjoy they did! Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and their 140 guests danced the night away under the stars. I just love how their black and white dance floor added a touch of glam to their bohemian wedding style. At one point, I saw Dan and his friends busting out the imaginary jump rope and it was then that I knew we had achieved our goal: planning an elegant yet super fun wedding celebration!
