Belha Villa Wedding in Mexico

Barb Simkova for Tara McMullen Photography, Canteiro, and The Eventeur Inc. put together this stylish shoot that’s everything a beach wedding should be — relaxed yet sophisticated, casual but still with a pinch of glam.

From the photographer, Barb Simkova for Tara McMullen Photography: It’s almost too easy to miss the turn off from the highway, and when you do find it driving down the winding jungle road to Belha Villa feels like you are leaving civilization. Belha has been a private villa for years, owned by Sofia Moreno, daughter to Carlos Moreno and has just recently opened to the public as an event and rental space. The glowing white villa designed in Costa Careyes style sits in front of a private white sand beach still largely owned by the fisherman who were the first to build their homes there. In every sense of the word Belha is a retreat, where one is surrounded by beautiful shells and corals found from the beach nearby and feels at ease in the minimal yet cozy decor.

Keeping in mind the relaxed yet stylish ambiance of the villa we wanted to reflect those elements in our shoot: a barefoot bride in a none traditional yet glamorous beaded gown, hair blowing in the wind, soft makeup. The decor chosen was meant to feel luxurious yet reflect the elements of the surroundings with soft colours and natural materials.
