Backyard Sydney Wedding
Where to begin with this Sydney wedding from Casandra of Photography by Caspix? It features whopping white king protea centerpieces, sunglasses for all the guests, and one amazing floral halo for the bride — who has the most amazing mane of blonde curls we’ve ever seen. Oh, and all of the florals and styling were done by the bride herself, the incredible Justine Rose, who happens to be an incredible event designer.
From the bride, Justine: The colour theme was yellow and white with hints of brown and green- this accurately represents the Australian summer colours I know at the beach. We wanted the wedding to have a very relaxed feel to it- nothing that would make it look too formal, but with enough styling that it felt magical to be part of. I believe that the weddings I reflect on the most are the ones that have been styled really well.
I am a florist and stylist so all the styling of the ceremony and marquee was done by myself. I sources all the products within (table runners, lanterns, bunting, pace mats etc etc) and then had friends help me assemble everything in the few days before the wedding. I also did all my own flowers (bouquets and table arrangements. Doing this sort of thing is my week to week job so it would have felt weir to get someone else to do it. We had 2 sets of favours which really contributed to the styling; a pair of sunglasses which came with the message “don’t be blinded by our love” and individually sized and tagged white thongs (flip fops) on each chair so everyone could dance the night away. Our food was also Australian summer themed.
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Talk to a stylist if you are not really artsy yourselves. I help a lot of brides create that polished look of a planned wedding without a wedding planner. This is done by using continuum of themes- from stationery to table decorations to favours to food and drink styling. Sourcing each element separately without a theme can look messy.
