Old World Botanical Wedding Inspiration with a Touch of Apothecary

textured clay plates and vintage botanical menu with green linens and napkins

With a rich emerald palette, we knew this vintage botanical wedding inspiration would be right up our alley. What we didn’t know was just how hard we’d fall! This expert team of wedding creatives highlights the magic and mystery of a single color layered, and from the artistic invitation suite to the verdant bouquet to the intricately embellished bridal gowns, we are totally hooked. And we haven’t even mentioned the character of the white-bricked, industrial venue yet! Anyone else wishing they could grab a rosemary + thyme cocktail at this swanky establishment? Read on, and you will.

From the designer, Alyssa of Color Theory Collective:
With spring around the corner, we wanted to use green in a fresh and intentional way for this wedding inspiration. Inspired by old world botanical and apothecary designs, contemporary art and the fresh greens of spring, we decided One Eleven East would be the perfect venue for this shoot. The arched windows at One Eleven East have always reminded me of a beautiful old apothecary, accented by dark wood floors and a built-in marble bar with bits of black iron and brass. We were thrilled to work with Kristen Kilpatrick on this, as her photos are contemporary, yet timeless and her use of light is balanced and true.

Our first focus was creating a rich and layered tablescape combining textures from two La Tavola, stoneware and blown glass from CB2, a mixture of fruits to bring out some contrasting tones amongst the monochromatic theme and striking unique leaves designed in floral frogs by The Heirloom Table. Stationer, Carta Plena, provided the final touch to the table in the clean contemporary menu designs placed on each plate. These menus were just a small part of the design Carta Plena created for this event, with a complex and artistic invitation suite incorporating modern shapes, old world botanical drawings, and contemporary typography.

Our bride, Helena Sandahl, donned an intricately beaded shawl atop the delicate dress from Unbridaled. Makenzi Lane gave her a natural glow, a softly tousled up-do, and minimal makeup. The Heirloom Table designed a petite bridal bouquet, which we were thrilled about, as we are loving the direction of minimalism that we’ve seen bridal bouquets take. This soft and timeless look created a perfect juxtaposition with the dark and moody design this inspiration had taken on.

With a unique take on the apothecary and botanical theme, as a final touch, I wanted to focus on a variety of fresh cocktails created by Drink Slingers ATX. These talented bartenders took the inspiration next level by creating cocktails that complimented our photoshoot perfectly with fresh herbs and spices, sure to bring any event’s design up a notch. Finally, 10th Collection provided a collection of chairs, lounge furniture and bar stools that brought a cohesive feel through the dark wood and iron accents.
